Ohio State basketball missed out on getting a 2019 commitment from legacy target Jeremiah Francis. At least for now.

The 4-star recruit from Pickerington, Ohio, committed to North Carolina on Friday. His father, Jerry, played for the Buckeyes from the 1985-86 season through 1988-89 season. He scored more than 1,400 points at Ohio State.

But Jeremiah Francis picked the Tar Heels on Friday.

The younger Francis plays for Pickerington Central. 247 Sports composite ranks him No. 1 for Ohio and No. 61 nationally for the 2019 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound recruit is also ranked No. 7 in the country as a point guard.

Francis tweeted out a note with “TARHEELNATION” in all caps.
