Ohio State drops in College Football Playoff rankings
Ohio State fell all the way down to No. 13 in the second College Football Playoff rankings, which were released on Tuesday night. The Buckeyes had been ranked No. 6 in the initial rankings, but a humiliating 55-24 loss to Iowa sent them tumbling down seven spots. Interestingly, their next opponent Michigan State is ranked one spot ahead of them at No. 12.
Given how thin their playoff hopes look, the Buckeyes need to focus on winning a Big Ten title and just hope for unprecedented chaos among the teams ahead of them.
Parris Campbell back in action
The Buckeyes didn’t have dynamic offensive weapon Parris Campbell against Iowa, but the H-back will be back against Michigan State, Urban Meyer said on the Big Ten teleconference.
“It’s big. Obviously he’s one of the best kick returners in America, and he’s such a tough guy, good kid,” Meyer said. “Any time he’s not out there, it hurts.”
More twists and turns in QB recruiting
The Buckeyes are in the midst of some quarterback recruitment drama, with commit Emory Jones visiting Alabama and an offer going out to Kentucky commit Jarren Williams.
The Tuesday recruiting notebook contains some more twists and turns, including the possibility that Jones could visit Columbus for the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan State on Saturday.
