Ohio State claims Big Ten awards

Three Ohio State players won Big Ten individual awards on Thursday. J.T. Barrett was named Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, becoming the first player to win that award three times. Billy Price was named Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, and Nick Bosa won Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year.

It’s the third year in a row the Buckeyes have produced the conference’s best offensive lineman and the fourth season in a row they’ve produced the best defensive lineman. Nick and Joey Bosa are the first brothers to both win Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, an honor their uncle Eric Kumerow also won in 1986.

J.T. Barrett cleared to play

Barrett reportedly had arthroscopic surgery on his knee Sunday, but he should be good to go for the Big Ten title game clash against Wisconsin.

“He’s been cleared to play,” Urban Meyer said on his call-in show Thursday. “He’s going to play in the game.”

Kirk Herbstreit endorses Ohio State

If the Buckeyes beat Wisconsin, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit believes the Buckeyes should be in the College Football Playoff.

People have said, ‘Well, what’s the difference between Alabama this year and Ohio State last year,’ and Ohio State had wins over three of the top 10 in last year’s rankings. Ohio State would probably win that case based on what the committee’s looking at.”
