Nick Saban’s appearance on Wednesday’s SEC weekly teleconference centered around updating the status of three injured players ahead of the Crimson Tide’s matchup against Fresno State on Saturday.
Alabama got hit hard by injuries at the linebacker position during its opener against Florida State, losing two for the season and having another pair get dinged up.
Rashaan Evans has a groin injury, and Anfernee Jennings has an ankle injury. Each has about the same outlook for this week.
“They’re questionable for Saturday,” Saban said. “They’ll be day-to-day beyond that.”
It didn’t sound like Saban had too much of a sense of urgency to rush his two linebackers back for the home opener against Fresno State, especially after having just lost two lineup regulars for the rest of the year.
The third Crimson Tide player Saban gave an update on was running back Josh Jacobs, who injured his hamstring. He said that he had just as good a chance as any other player on the team to play but was still up in the air.
“I can’t say for sure if he’ll play,” Saban said.
Alabama and Fresno State kick off at 3:30 p.m. from Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
