Even well before this game, Alabama head coach Nick Saban already had a good claim to the title of ‘greatest college football coach of all time.’ Considering the amount of championships he’s won, that’s difficult to argue with. But with Saturday’s win over No. 3 Florida State, he’s broken yet another record: most wins ever against AP top five opponents:

Fittingly, Saban’s win over Florida State breaks a tie between himself and legendary Seminole coach Bobby Bowden. And while Saban coaches more games per season than Bowden usually did, it’s important to remember that Saban is still just 65 years old. Bowden coached Florida State until he was in his eighties. Should Saban stick around for that long, he could make this record completely untouchable, especially if he keeps scheduling challenging early season games like this one.
