The SEC prepares its players for the NFL. Every week the competition level remains high and every year it’s reflected in the high draft stock of the conference’s talent.
After training camp, it’s clear the SEC should have some of the best newcomers in the NFL this season. Daniel Jeremiah re-evaluated his training camp notes and had nine SEC players among the top-25 rookies in the league this season:
- Reuben Foster, 2. Jarrad Davis, 3. Myles Garrett, 5. Derek Barnett, 8. Jamal Adams, 9. Leonard Fournette, 11. Evan Engram, 19. Alvin Kamara, 25. Josh Reynolds.
That’s seven different SEC teams represented with two players from Tennessee, two from LSU, two from Texas A&M, and one from Ole Miss, Florida and Alabama. Four of the top five players on the list were SEC players as well.
Jeremiah’s highest praise was reserved for Foster:
Foster has All-Pro ability. He is quick to diagnose and is an explosive striker on contact. He is someone opposing teams will need to game plan against.
and rightfully so as Foster racked up 211 tackles and 7 sacks in three seasons in Tuscaloosa. Hopefully SEC fans aren’t too tired after a long day of football on Saturday. They’ll have a lot of talented alumni that will grab their attention for years to come on their fantasy teams.
