The Big 12 Championship resides in Oklahoma after the Sooners won it last year, and even if they lose the title this year to TCU, the physical trophy would have a little bit of home to it.
According to Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman, MTM Recognition in Del City, Oklahoma, has designed the new trophy, which replaces the crystal bowl on top with a silver football.
According to the report, MTM Recognition will have the trophy on display Thursday from 11 AM-1 PM.
The trophy was made in Oklahoma, but the Sooners are going to have to fight to keep it in its birth state. TCU isn’t going to back down from a fight, and the two have already met once this year, which makes it harder for Oklahoma to draw an accurate bead. Gary Patterson and Sonny Cumbie absolutely have something planned for Oklahoma. We’ll have to wait until Saturday to see exactly what that something is.
