Nebraska football has put six former walk-ons on scholarship, head coach Mike Riley told reporters Thursday.
Junior OL Cole Conrad, senior FB Luke McNitt, senior WR Gabe Rahn, senior TE Tyler Hoppes, senior TE Connor Ketter and junior WR Brett Classen are all on scholarship now.
Conrad is competing for a starting spot on Nebraska’s offensive line in 2017. Rahn caught a 35-yard touchdown against Wyoming last season. Hoppes played in 10 games last season, and is poised to compete at tight end after the Huskers graduated three players at that position. Ketter played mainly on special teams. McNitt moved from tight end to fullback this offseason.
