Nebraska football is the No. 1 topic in Big Red Rising every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across Huskers sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Huskers football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Risky decision

It was a major risk hiring Bob Diaco as Nebraska’s defensive coordinator. The Huskers needed a quick fix, but Diaco brought a long-term solution instead.

What could have been

TCU coach Gary Patterson was once considered for Nebraska’s head coach position. Except it appears the Huskers already knew who they wanted, and that was Bo Pelini. The rest, you could say, is history.

Clearing up confusion

Diaco may have said Nebraska was forced to teach rugby tackling, but Riley cleared that up on Thursday. He even added a little joke, hoping to eliminate any of the drama from the week.

Better for it

Nebraska defensive end Damian Jackson’s journey to join the Huskers wasn’t conventional, but it was perfect just as it was. Even more, Nebraska is better for it.

Visit recaps

How did Huskers commit Mario Goodrich and IMG target Andre Cisco enjoy their official visits to Nebraska? Land of 10’s Chris Bumbaca compiled their thoughts after their recent trips to Lincoln.

All-time high

Nebraska student-athletes continue to shine in the classroom, as the NCAA’s Graduation Success Rate (GSR) has shown. The Huskers posted their highest overall GSR in the 13-year history of the rate. Congratulations, Huskers!

The Moos is loose

Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos hit the road Thursday, visiting Nebraskans in Columbus, Grand Island, Hastings and Kearney. The Huskers provided some photos on Twitter from the trip, and it looks like a good day overall.
