Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos said no decision has been made about the future of Nebraska coach Mike Riley. Moos was speaking with Mike’l Severe on the Omaha World Herald’s “ The Bottom Line” on Tuesday.
“I’m supporting Mike and his coaches to keep our focus where it needs to be and that is to finish strong and hopefully get into a bowl game,” Moos said.

Nebraska dropped back below .500 to 4-5 on Saturday, falling 31-24 to Northwestern in overtime. The Huskers need 2 wins in their final 3 games (at Minnesota, at Penn State, vs. Iowa) to become bowl eligible.
Riley’s future has been the question surrounding Nebraska’s program ever since a Week 3 loss to Northern Illinois. Former Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst was fired a few days after the embarrassing home defeat.
Moos was hired by the Huskers in October and experienced his first home football game as Nebraska’s athletic director against Northwestern. He also shared his thoughts on the program on the whole on The Bottom Line.
“Probably not tremendously consistent, and that’s what any coach is looking for. I’ve been impressed with the defense at times,” Moos said. “We’ve got some very good players offensively. You look for consistency, and putting that last nail in the coffin is always important, too, and I know that was a real frustration for our players and coaches and fans.”
