Nebraska basketball releases non-conference schedule

The Huskers released their non-conference schedule Wednesday afternoon, and it features Nebraska basketball taking on a former Big XII rival.

Accompanied by a hype video, the Huskers’ announced their 2017-2018 non-conference schedule on Twitter.

Nebraska begins its season against Eastern Illinois at home, and takes on the 2017 Big Sky champion, and NCAA Tournament team, North Dakota on Nov. 19 at hime. However, the most notable match ups in the Huskers non-conference slate come near the back end of the schedule.

The Huskers take on two tournament teams from the 2017 NCAA Tournament in rapid succession, with the possibility of a third as well. Nebraska travels to take on in-state Creighton on Dec. 9, and returns home on Dec. 16 to take on the Kansas Jayhawks.

Nebraska also has a chance at playing West Virginia in the Advocate Invitational, however the Huskers would need to defeat NIT semifinalist UCF and the Mountaineers would need to beat Marist in order for the two to square off.

Kansas and West Virginia advanced to the Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, respectively, while Creighton and North Dakota were both bounced out of the first round.
