Mississippi State podcast: Dan Mullen is gone, but MSU is in good shape for the next coach

Welcome to More Cowbell, SEC Country’s daily podcast about Mississippi State   sports with host Brandon Walker.

Well, that happened. Mississippi State is now in the market for a head coach after Dan Mullen decided to take the same job at the University of Florida on Sunday. That leaves MSU in a coaching search for the first time since 2008, and it ends a nine-year tenure for Mullen in Starkville. On this episode of More Cowbell, we wrap up the Mullen era and begin to look forward to MSU’s next coach.
Mullen’s departure happened quickly and unexpectedly, as he accepted the job three days after a terrible loss to Ole Miss in the 2017 Egg Bowl. We take a look at Mullen’s final days as MSU’s head coach and we also look at the list of potential replacements.
