The departure of Dan Mullen from Mississippi State caused a number of reactions from Bulldogs fans.
Certainly, it’s hard to argue with Mullen’s success in Starkville. He went 69-46 in nine seasons at Mississippi State. That run included seven bowl appearances and three seasons with at least nine wins in a year. Still, it understandable if some fans feel disappointed after Mullen decided to become Florida’s next coach.
In a cool piece by The Dispatch’s Brett Hudson, multiple fan opinions about Mullen’s move were recorded. One, in particular, stood out with an amazing comparison between Mullen and someone “you want to borrow your mower.”
Check out the full quote below from Andy Chapman of Jackson, Miss.
“Mullen is the guy you want to borrow your mower,” Chapman told Hudson. “It wouldn’t crank and had dull blades. He returns it full of gas, new air filter and sharpened blades. Can’t be mad about that. Wish he would have cut the grass one more year, but hey, John Cohen can find a guy. We could be in much worse shape.”
Likely, you won’t find a better quote summing up Mullen’s impact in Starkville than that one. Just beautiful.
