Miami superfan Shelton Douthett shares bond between himself and late brother over Hurricanes football

Shelton Douthett has been a fan of the Miami Hurricanes for as long as he can remember. He and his brother grew up watching the team throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, during the highs of the 2001 national championship season and the lows following that.

But in 2009, Shelton’s life took an unexpected turn as his brother passed away. Since then, Shelton has been dressing up in full uniform to every Hurricanes home game (and some away games as well) to honor his late brother’s memory.

Miami football certainly means different things to different people. For Shelton Douthett, it brings back memories of how he was able to bond with his brother over the team. And while his brother isn’t here to celebrate what has been a special season for the Hurricanes thus far, we know that if he were living, he’d be cheering alongside the rest of the fans on Saturday during the game against Notre Dame.
