Rutgers’ 2018 recruiting class is up to 19 members after defensive end/tight end Matthew Thomas committed to the Scarlet Knights on Friday morning.

A Brooklyn native, Thomas (6-foot-3, 237 pounds) is a 3-star recruit and the 13th-best player from New York, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Thomas had eight offers before committing to Rutgers, including ones from Wake Forest and Temple.
Rutgers now has 19 commits in its 2018 class, which is ranked 46th nationally and 10th in the Big Ten.
