BATON ROUGE, La. — Defensive end Rashard Lawrence will not play in LSU’s home opener against Chattanooga, Tigers coach Ed Orgeron confirmed on Thursday.
“Rashard will not play this week,” Orgeron said. “Glen Logan has worked in his place.”
Lawrence, a preseason all-SEC selection, has not practiced this week. The sophomore recorded four tackles in the season opener against BYU. Orgeron did not specify the nature of Lawrence’s injury. However, Lawrence could be seen limping on the field favoring his ankle after a handful of plays against the Cougars.
When asked when Lawrence could be expected back, Orgeron replied, “Rashard will not play this week.”
Logan, a redshirt freshman from Destrehan, La., made his LSU debut in the season opener. He did not record a tackle.
Freshmen Neil Farrell and Justin Thomas have also taken reps this week in Lawrence’s place, Orgeron confirmed. Lawrence is the only starter who played against BYU that did not return to the practice field this week.
