It’s been an offseason to forget for Louisville.

Fortunately, in just three days, Cardinals fans can finally move past the FBI allegations and firings of Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Pitino and tenured athletics director Tom Jurich and immerse themselves in another season of Louisville basketball.

This year’s Cardinals team figures to be talented, led by junior forward Deng Adel. Thursday, Adel was one of 50 players selected by the NCAA for the Naismith Award Watch List. The Naismith Award is presented annually to the national player of the year.

Adel has already shown flashes of his talent this preseason. In Tuesday’s exhibition against Division-II Bellarmine University, Adel scored a team-high 21 points. He also threw down a vicious, one-handed, reverse dunk, which can be seen below.

Last season, Adel averaged 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in his first season as a regular starter.
