While most uniforms are mainly style and no substance, Vanderbilt will have plenty of both when it takes the field against Kentucky on Saturday in Nashville.
On Wednesday morning, the Commodores revealed the unique look they’ll be sporting and the special meaning behind them in a post on social media.
Vandy is calling them “deep water” uniforms and each jersey will have a name on the back that refers to a fallen soldier. The front will have a patch of that soldier’s military branch.

The Commodores snapped a five-game losing streak with a 31-17 win over Western Kentucky last Saturday. Vandy must win two of its final three games to become bowl eligible with home contests against Kentucky and Missouri coming up before finishing up the regular season at Tennessee.
Vanderbilt has won three straight at home against Kentucky.
