University of Oklahoma President David Boren made a surprise appearance at football practice on Thursday.
Boren, who’s set to retire next June, stopped senior quarterback Baker Mayfield for a picture, and took the opportunity to echo Mayfield’s plea to fans on Saturday.

The Sooners face the Horned Frogs at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, and Boren wants the fans to bring their A-game when No. 6-ranked TCU comes to town.
On Monday, Mayfield was unprompted when he asked fans at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium to get so loud that no one talks about Oklahoma’s 2008 stomping of Texas Tech anymore.
The Sooners are a touchdown favorite over the Frogs following last week’s 62-52 win in Bedlam. TCU is coming off a win against Texas, setting the game up to be an important one in the College Football Playoff picture.
Both teams have 1 loss this season, but the winner of Saturday’s Oklahoma-TCU game will be in great shape to make the Big 12 title game and stay in the thick of the playoff hunt.
