Jim McElwain offered kind words after sad news was revealed Monday that a son of Alabama co-offensive Mike Locksley was tragically shot and killed in Maryland.

On Monday, Alabama coach Nick Saban relayed word Locksley was dealing with a family tragedy.  WMAR-TV in Baltimore reported that Locksley’s son Meiko sustained a gunshot wound late Sunday and was transported to the University of Maryland’s Shock and Trauma Center. Meiko passed away overnight at age 25.

Shortly after the development, the Florida coach used Twitter to send thoughts and prayers to Coach Locksley and Locksley’s family.

Such a sad development. Many throughout the SEC and beyond will be thinking of Locksley and his family in the coming days.
