Shocker: Alabama fans are giving Auburn a hard time over a 2017 SEC West champions sign.
On Sunday, an image surfaced of the final touches being placed on a sign that marked the Tigers’ division title this season. You might remember that they beat the Crimson Tide 26-14 on Nov. 25 to win the SEC West. That was the last bit of good news for Auburn. The Tigers went on to lose to Georgia in the SEC title game and to UCF in the Peach Bowl to finish 10-4. Alabama, meanwhile, beat Clemson in the Sugar Bowl and Georgia in the National Championship Game after being named the fourth team in the College Football Playoff.
The internet can be an unforgiving place, especially when college football rivalries are at the center of discussion. We’ve collected a few reactions from Alabama fans to Auburn’s SEC West champions sign. Not surprisingly, they’re kind of rough.

It’s hard to blame Auburn to marking its SEC West title with a sign. (Name a program that wouldn’t do something similar.) But the achievement looks small when Alabama’s national championship is considered. Sorry, Tigers fans.
Yes, Auburn earned some bragging rights by beating Alabama in the most recent Iron Bowl. But the Crimson Tide gained the final, loudest final word.
