LISTEN: Michael Irvin fires up Miami fans for Notre Dame game with intense speech

Fans are already pumped up for Miami’s most meaningful matchup in the last 15 years. But this speech by Michael Irvin will have you even more antsy for Saturday to arrive.

The Hurricanes legend prayed that Miami would be undefeated when Notre Dame came to town.

His request has turned into reality.

With No. 7 Miami sitting at 8-0, a victory over No. 3 Notre Dame would make a major statement that “The U” is on the way back.

Irvin joined “The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz” to discuss a variety of Miami-related topics and at the end was implored to give one of his famous pregame speeches.

Boy, did he not disappoint.

Check in at the 3:20 remaining mark to get some goosebumps.

Irvin was part of some of the biggest games of the rivalry in the 1980s. The Hall of Fame wide receiver took great pride in humbling the Irish whenever he lined up against them.

“It was perfection. Notre Dame was always supposed to be what you were not. We are up here. You are down there. We are heaven. You are hell. The juxtaposition was always there,” Irvin said. “That’s why it was so good to beat up on Notre Dame.”

Irvin boasts the modern-day Canes’ turnover chain is a piece of swag no other program could replicate.

“It’s the most incredible thing in the world. It’s so Miami. It’s so Miami. It’s so Miami. No other school could pull it off. Only Miami can pull it off and I love it,” Irvin said. “I think it’s a brilliant way to connect yesterday to tomorrow, with our history and with our future. That’s what they’ve done with bringing that gold turnover chain back.”

Miami will be seeking their first win vs. Notre Dame since a 27-10 victory in 1989. Miami lost at Notre Dame 30-27 last season.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series 18-7-1, with the games in Miami tied at 6-6-1.

Notre Dame-Miami is slated for an 8 p.m. (EST) kickoff and will be televised on ABC.
