On Monday morning, Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com wrote a column stating that Lane Kiffin would “bring stability to Tennessee right about now.”
Kiffin, who coached the Vols for one season in 2009, is currently coaching Florida Atlantic, but he could continue to be a popular name in coaching rumors after a successful season with the Owls.
As for these rumors with Tennessee, however? Well, let’s just say Kiffin wasn’t a fan of the headline on Dodd’s column, which reads as follows: “As Tennessee again finds itself engulfed in flames, Lane Kiffin waits by his phone.”
Kiffin responded how he often does — with a tweet.
“Not waiting at all!” Kiffin tweeted, going on to state he’s preparing for Florida Atlantic’s matchup against North Texas in the Conference USA championship game on Saturday.
As Tennessee again finds itself engulfed in flames, Lane Kiffin waits by his phone Not waiting at all! Getting this team ready to win its 9th straight against a great north Texas team. Come to the championship here in Boca Dennis at #thefaU @espn https://t.co/GJ83xJqejm

Kiffin has led the Owls to a 9-3 mark this season, after spending the previous two years as an assistant at Alabama. Will he be leaving FAU for another job before next season? Perhaps, but we certainly know he isn’t waiting by his phone.
