If the season ended after one Week 1, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit believes two Big Ten programs would qualify for the College Football Playoff:
He ranked Ohio State second and Penn State fourth in his list of top four teams, which he tweeted Tuesday.

Herbstreit has been high on both Big Ten squads leading up to this season. In January, he said the Nittany Lions are ‘absolutely’ a national championship contender.
Then, right before the start of the season, Herbstreit picked Ohio State to win it all.
While Alabama made headlines by drubbing Florida State, 24-7, on Saturday night, Ohio State and Penn State took care of business. The Buckeyes overcame a lethargic start to defeat Indiana, 49-21, while Penn State shut out Akron.
The two Big Ten powerhouses will meet on Oct. 28 in Columbus, Ohio.
