Plan, for now, is to go on with home opener on Saturday

The Florida Gators are slated to hold their 2017 home opener on Saturday night against Northern Colorado. However, the possibility of Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 storm, wreaking havoc on the state of Florida by the end of the week has the school’s athletic association closely monitoring the situation. Gators athletics director Scott Stricklin tweeted on Tuesday that the plan for now is to still host the game in Gainesville this weekend “if possible.” The National Hurricane Center website has all the updates on Hurricane Irma.
