Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports and CBS Sports predicts that Iowa State won’t just struggle in the Big 12, they’ll finish dead last.
While that can be seen as a bold claim, Rothstein makes several good points. The coaching talent in the Big 12 is incredibly strong, and Iowa State loses their top six scorers from last year. Rothstein says that Iowa State does have some talented freshmen, but the Cyclones are going to be a very young team.
It’s hard to see Iowa State falling on times that tough. The Cyclones have at the very least been solid in Big 12 play for a while now. They might have a down season, they might finish eighth in the conference, but finishing last is a bold prediction indeed. We won’t see this iteration of Cyclone basketball in conference play until late in December, then, and only then, will we find out how good they are.
