D.J. Johnson commits to Iowa: 4-star CB picks Hawkeyes over Notre Dame

Iowa picked up 2018 commit No. 12 on Tuesday: 4-star cornerback Donald “D.J.” Johnson.

Johnson announced his commitment on Twitter. He picked the Hawkeyes over fellow finalist Notre Dame.

The defensive back is from Indianapolis, Ind., and plays for North Central. Rated Indiana’s No. 4 recruit for 2018 by 247 Sports composite, Johnson is also ranked No. 318 nationally for all positions. At cornerback, Johnson is No. 29.

As reported by Blair Sanderson of the Hawkeye Report, Johnson picked August 22 as his commitment date because it’s his mother’s birthday.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound corner announced Iowa and Notre Dame as his two finalists on June 26. But now he’s Hawkeyes commitment No. 12.

Johnson is Iowa’s second cornerback commit for 2018. He’s joined by 3-star Terry Roberts (Erie, Pa.). Roberts picked the Hawkeyes on June 5.
