Joe Moorhead targeted Michigan DC Don Brown for Mississippi State coaching staff

Mississippi State announced on Tuesday night that it hired Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead as the program’s  new head coach.

Now that it is official, Moorhead is free to pursue other coaches to fill in his coaching staff. According to a report from FootballScoop.com on Wednesday, Moorhead targeted Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown to join his coaching staff, but Brown declined and will stay at Michigan.

Brown and Moorhead have a history, as the two worked together for one season at Connecticut in 2011.

Brown was named the  FootballScoop Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2015, and his Michigan defenses have been elite since he arrived in Ann Arbor in 2016.
