Jim McElwain tells UF pep rally crowd Gators are going to Dallas to ‘beat the heck out of Michigan’

Jim McElwain is feeling pretty good about his Gators squad. That much evident during a pep rally with University of Florida students on Sunday.

The football program used Periscope to broadcast the event, which included a short address from McElwain to the student body. And the Gators coach didn’t disappoint.

After giving a spirited speech about how The Swamp was the premier college football venue in the country, McElwain delivered this closing line to the Gators fans he had worked into a tizzy:

“I love the energy. Can’t wait to see you,” McElwain said. “And you know what? We’re heading to Dallas here in a couple weeks to go beat the heck out of Michigan and then come back to you guys.”

Florida opens the season against Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan squad at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The last time McElwain’s Gators took on Michigan, it didn’t end so well. The Wolverines won 41-7 at the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2016.
