Grant Newsome suffered a terrible knee injury last season. He spent 40 days in the hospital because of it, needed six surgeries and said he was “minutes” from having part of his leg amputated.
While Newsome likely won’t play for Michigan in 2017, it doesn’t mean he isn’t working on the field. Jim Harbaugh posted a video of Newsome running sprints on the Wolverines’ practice field Tuesday morning.
“A lesser man would have thrown in the towel many moons ago,” Harbaugh said of Newsome’s rehab.

Newsome responded to his coach, saying the 2018 season opener — when he hopes to play again — “can’t come soon enough.”
Thanks coach. 09/01/18 can't come soon enough https://t.co/gBEMU6Ntc7

Newsome started Michigan’s first five games last season as a sophomore before suffering the injury against Wisconsin on Oct. 1.
