Jevon Carter is averaging the most steals per game of anyone in the country with 4.4.
If he holds to his average against New Jersey Tech, he’ll hold a school record as well. Carter only needs three more steals to break the record set by Greg Jones 34 years ago. Jones had 251 steals all time, Carter sits at 249.
If anyone is going to lead this West Virginia basketball team into a strong postseason run, it’s Carter. The effort he plays with and the plays that he make will be crucial for a West Virginia team that has struggled out of the starting blocks, but seems to be finding its footing.
We’ll know much more once we get into conference play, where seemingly every Big 12 opponent looms large. Kansas is once again the favorite to win the conference crown, but if West Virginia can get their ducks in a row, they should be able to challenge their rule.
