Even though West Virginia has struggled out of the gate, Mountaineer fans can rest assured that Jevon Carter is doing everything he can to bring them back.
The senior currently leads the entire nation in steals per game with 4.43. The closest to him is Matisse Thybulle of Washington with 3.83.
Thybulle has 23 steals total, whereas Carter has 31, a staggering discrepancy.
The Mountaineers are 6-1, and certainly playing better than they did in their season opener against Texas A&M. Given, the Aggies look like a legitimate powerhouse this year, but a blowout of that magnitude wasn’t up to the standards Bob Huggins sets for his program. The Mountaineers have refocused and aren’t completely there yet, but steadily improving as the season wears on.
You don’t want to be playing your best basketball in November and December. This team should be angling to prep for February and March, where they can really make a splash in the NCAA Tournament if they play up to their lofty potential.
