James Franklin on new contract extension: ‘We’ve started to build something here that’s really special’

Penn State football coach James Franklin addressed the media Wednesday for the first time since the school announced his new six-year contract extension.

The coach emphasized the importance of stability to a football program and called himself “blessed and fortunate” to be at Penn State.

Franklin arrived at Penn State in 2014 after three seasons at Vanderbilt. The Nittany Lions have gone 24-15 in three seasons with him at the helm, including a Big Ten title-winning 2016 campaign that ended with a narrow defeat in the Rose Bowl.
