Iowa LB Josey Jewell wins 2017 Jack Lambert Award

Iowa star LB Josey Jewell has won the Jack Lambert Award. The honor goes to the top linebacker in the country.

Jewell is first in the Big Ten and is No. 3 nationally with 125 total tackles (11.4 tackles per game). In the Hawkeyes’ 56-14 rout of Nebraska last Friday, Jewell posted 8 tackles and made his second interception of the season.

Jewell is also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award. However, he was surprisingly not a Butkus Award finalist. That prompted criticism from former Iowa linebackers Chad Greenway and Pat Angerer. Two other Big Ten players did make the cut in Michigan’s Devin Bush and Wisconsin’s T.J. Edwards.

The Iowa star is a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award, the only Big Ten player to make that list.
