Jewell finished the regular season ranked third nationally in tackles with 125 (11.4 tackles per game). Jewell was named a first-team All-Big Ten defensive selection by the coaches and media earlier in the week.

The Lott IMPACT (which stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity)Trophy has been given out annually since 2004. The Big Ten has had a lot of recent success with the award, producing its last two winners. Michigan linebacker/defensive back Jabrill Peppers won in 2016, while Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib took home the honor in 2015.

Jewell will try to make it three Big Ten players in a row when the winner is announced on Dec. 10.
