Finding a new home

Manny Rugamba to miss opener: What does it mean?

The Hawkeyes suspended starting cornerback Manny Rugamba for the Sept. 2 opener against Wyoming because of a violation of team rules. Why does it matter? Land of 10 explains.

A repeat performance

You don’t say

Defensive coordinator Phil Parker is really high on the Iowa defensive ends — as in the potentially the best unit he’s seen in ages high — as Jeremiah Davis of the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports. And, yes, he’s just as high on true freshman defensive end A.J. Epenesa.

Rising Sun

The Phoenix Suns and former Iowa guard Peter Jok have agreed to a partially guaranteed deal. The former Iowa sharpshooter will now try to make the Phoenix roster out of training camp.

Mr. All-American

Josey Jewell picked up a win before the Hawkeyes played a game. The Associated Press named the linebacker a preseason first-team All-American on Tuesday.
