TCU football will play in its first-ever Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
When the Horned Frogs take the field, they’ll look to do something that hasn’t been done in more than a decade.
No team since 2001 has won the Big 12 Championship in their first time playing in the title game. Colorado, making its first trip to the contest that year, defeated Texas 39-37 at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas.
Of course, the game hasn’t been played since 2010 — adding to the drought. All-time, first-time teams in the Big 12 title game are 3-4, including the inaugural game in 1996. Texas defeated Nebraska 37-27.
Oklahoma won its first Big 12 title game appearance in 2000 — a 27-24 triumph over Kansas State.
Kickoff for the Big 12 title game is set for 11:30 a.m. CT on Dec. 2. The game will air on FOX.
