Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate was an All-American and a Biletnikoff Award winner during his decorated career at Notre Dame. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, before becoming one of professional wrestling’s most recognized stars and one of the highest billing actors in Hollywood today, was a defensive tackle on Miami’s national championship team in 1991.

With the Fighting Irish and Hurricanes playing each other in one of the biggest games in college football this year, it was obviously quite fitting that the two engaged in a friendly wager headed into Saturday’s game. Tate sent the first shot on Saturday morning, adding a little twist to The Rock’s signature saying:

Never one to back down from a little smack talk owing to his days in pro wrestling, Johnson had to respond:

So what were the terms of that wager, by the way? Here’s what Tate had in mind:

This should be a lot of fun to watch play out. But Johnson had a final dig to make, and it was aimed toward one particular Notre Dame walk-on that would later be immortalized in film:
