Georgia Tech and Georgia will renew their rivalry at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 25.
These two teams will come into next Saturday with very different goals. Beating their rival is obviously most important that day, but Georgia is hoping to win and remain involved in the College Football Playoff race. As for Georgia Tech, they need a victory to reach six wins on the season to become bowl eligible.
The Bulldogs have dominated the rivalry in recent years and own a 65-41-5 edge in the all-time series, but the Yellow Jackets pulled off a shocking upset last year in Athens, Ga, and behind that victory, Georgia Tech has won 2 of the last 3 versus Georgia.

Georgia Tech-Georgia series history
As previously mentioned, the Yellow Jackets have won 2 of the last 3 in the series, and interestingly, both of those wins came in Athens. But since 2001, Georgia is 13-3 versus Georgia Tech, including 8-0 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets have yet to beat the Bulldogs at home this century. Georgia Tech last beat Georgia in Atlanta in 1999, and the last time the Yellow Jackets defeated the Bulldogs in regulation at home was 1989.
Most of that success for the Bulldogs came with Mark Richt as head coach. Richt lost to Paul Johnson just twice as Georgia’s head coach, and including his two matchups with the Yellow Jackets while with Miami, Richt is 7-2 all-time versus Johnson.
Last year’s matchup was close, but in his first season as head coach of the Bulldogs, Kirby Smart lost to Johnson, 28-27.
Georgia’s only loss this season came against Auburn in Week 11, but it was a 40-17 rout, which knocked the Bulldogs from their No. 1 perch in the College Football Playoff rankings. Georgia Tech was close to being ranked coming into the season, but the Yellow Jackets lost a double-overtime thriller against Tennessee to begin the season.
The heart-breaking losses didn’t end there for Georgia Tech, who also blew a lead in the final seconds against Miami. That was the closest anyone has come to beating the Hurricanes.
