It’s official: Justin Fields is the No. 1 player in the country according to the newly-updated 247 Composite rankings.
Fields, a Kennesaw, Georgia, native, has not yet chosen a school. He de-committed from Penn State in early June.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 221 pounds, Fields’ ascension up the recruiting rankings has been rapid and unexpected. Just last year, Fields was a middling recruit and the No. 20 dual threat QB in the country per 247.
247 Sports moved Fields into their top spot earlier this summer. Rivals moved him up to No. 2 overall on Monday, launching him into No. 1 in the composite rankings. Clemson commit Trevor Lawrence remains ahead of Fields per Rivals. Scout also has Fields No. 1 overall.
Fields holds an offer from just about every top program in the country, but has recently taken unofficial visits to Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Florida State. He has not set a timetable for his commitment.
