While Georgia fans clamor for football season to start, the SEC announced the full 126-game men’s basketball slate Thursday afternoon, including the dates of Georgia’s marquee matchups.
The Bulldogs’ 18-game SEC schedule will start with Kentucky on Dec. 31 and conclude with Tennessee on March 3. In-between, Georgia will get big matchups at Missouri (Jan. 10), vs Florida (Jan. 30) and at South Carolina (Feb. 21).
“You know there are going to be 18 very solid teams on our league schedule,” head coach Mark Fox said in a press release. “No matter what order they’re placed in there’s going to be a lot of great, competitive games.”
Fox, entering his ninth season at the helm in Athens, is leading the Bulldogs in the midst of one of their most successful stretches in program history. Georgia’s 51 SEC wins over the last five years is the most in school history, per the release.
Georgia’s schedule also features five Saturday home games, which should be good for attendance and the UGA football program’s unofficial visit tour in the spring.
The Bulldogs will be looking to improve on a 19-15 record a year ago that yielded them an NCAA Tournament berth. Fox’s squad returns nine of its top 10 scorers from 2016-17.
