Georgia coach Kirby Smart had amazing response after Alabama fans needled him at golf tournament

Georgia coach Kirby Smart took part in the Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday, and he couldn’t escape a few taunts from Alabama fans.

The golf tournament took place at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala., so it shouldn’t be any surprise that there were multiple Crimson Tide fans present. Later Wednesday afternoon, Smart appeared on The Paul Finebaum Show and revealed that some Alabama fans needled the Georgia coach with references to “second-and-26,” which was the situation when Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed a game-winning 41-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith against the Bulldogs in the National Championship Game in January.

Smart’s response was great.

“We’ll remember those,” he told Finebaum.

You have to love those words from Smart if you’re a Georgia fan. Likely, many SEC observers will predict the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide to meet in the SEC Championship Game this season. Both programs return multiple examples of young, talented players who enjoyed key roles during the memorable showdown between Georgia and Alabama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Sure, Alabama fans own bragging rights now. Crimson Tide fans should feel good after Alabama claimed its fifth national title under coach Nick Saban.

But Smart’s Georgia program doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon.
