Georgia baseball team keeps rolling against Georgia Tech

The Georgia baseball team stayed hot Tuesday night — both this season and against rival Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs pulled off a 4-0 shutout win at Foley Field to improve to 22-7 this season. Georgia has won 10 of its last 11 games and 17 of its last 19. Georgia Tech drops to 17-12.

The Bulldogs have won four straight against the Yellow Jackets after sweeping last year’s three games.

Three who mattered

Kevin Smith: Smith entered the game in the third inning and pitched 4-1/3 innings of shutout relief to improve to 4-1. Smith had nine strikeouts and allowed only two hits.

Keegan McGovern: McGovern went 2-for-4 with an RBI on a single in the seventh inning.

Michael Curry: Curry went 2-for-3 with an RBI on a single in the seventh.

Observations

Big inning: The Bulldogs led 1-0 going to the seventh and pulled away with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Strong pitching: The Bulldogs’ four pitchers allowed four hits and recorded 14 strikeouts.

Worth mentioning 

The series continues: The two teams face off again April 24 at Georgia Tech and May 8 at SunTrust Park.

Georgia plays Thursday at Vanderbilt.
