Gene Chizik scolds Texas A&M regent who wants Kevin Sumlin gone: ‘It’s unprofessional’

Gene Chizik had wise words to share about the Kevin Sumlin situation.

The internet has been buzzing after Texas A&M’s huge second-half collapse against UCLA on Sunday night. One member of the Texas A&M Board of Regents, Tony Buzbee, posted a message on Facebook that all but called for Sumlin’s firing following the Aggies’ 45-44 loss.

Chizik, a former Auburn coach who’s now an analyst for SEC Network, weighed in on Sumlin’s status Monday. He came to the Texas A&M coach’s defense in a number of messages on Twitter.

Chizik is right, as are others who are stressing patience regarding Sumlin. Yes, the UCLA loss is horrible for Sumlin’s job security, especially given that his hot-seat status was known throughout the offseason.

But let’s pump the breaks on saying Sumlin needs to go now. There’s still time to turns things around in College Station. But certainly, Sumlin needs to act quickly to move the Aggies in the right direction.
