GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida coach Jim McElwain’s injury report Wednesday hit a more serious tone than usual when he explained why freshman wide receiver James Robinson has not been at practice for at least the last two days.
“He had something show up in his echocardiogram, whatever it’s called. Which is not good,” McElwain said. “Obviously our specialists at Shands (Hospital) will handle exactly what that is. We’ll take every precaution to help him as he moves forward.”
McElwain did not provide any further details on Robinson’s health scare.
“The heart muscle has something to do (there). I don’t know exactly from there. It’s not a high ankle sprain, I’ll tell you that,” he said.
The freshman wide receiver from Lakeland was suspended for the season opener against Michigan due to a marijuana citation the previous week. On Monday, McElwain had said the rookie would be cleared to return to action, obviously before this situation developed.
