Future South Carolina DB R.J. Roderick sets high school rushing record

South Carolina

RJ Roderick, whoโ€™s committed to play defensive back at South Carolina, is now the all-time leading rusher in Cane Bay High School history.

A quarterback, Roderick rushed for 106 yards and 4 touchdowns on Friday night as Cane Bay (Summerville, S.C.) beat cross-county rival Stratford, 42-13. Roderick also threw a 39-yard touchdown pass.

According to ourgazette.com, he is now up to 3,186 career yards, after entering 26 yards short of Anthony Enosโ€™ record.

Roderick (6-0, 207) is listed by the 247Sports composite as the No. 88 overall safety in the Class of 2018. At most, heโ€™s been a part time player at the position. Through the first two games of the season, Roderick had 3 tackles.

Earlier this season, he posted tweeted a pretty ferocious hit that dislodged the ball from an opposing receiver.

Roderick was one of several South Carolina commitments who shined on the gridiron this weekend. Four-star quarterback Dakereon Joyner led his team to a big road win over one of the other top teams in the state.
