FOX Sports analyst projects Oklahoma will crack top-4 in latest College Football Playoff rankings

Does Oklahoma deserve to be among the top-four when the latest College Football Playoff rankings?

While that’s a matter of opinion that’s sure to be argued, considering the Sooners would essentially need to be slotted at No. 4 if they were to be included in of of the four coveted positions, there’s certainly some in favor of that proving true.

Following a statement Week 10 win over No. 11 Oklahoma State, 62-52, which marked the Sooners second ranked road win over the season, the display prompted a change of heart for FOX Sports Analyst Joel Klatt.

After previously noting Oklahoma’s less than stellar resume with numerous wins over subpar opponents and ranking OU behind Ohio State, Klatt now has the Sooners up to No. 4 in his new Top 6.

Sure, five of Oklahoma’s eight wins have come over opponents that currently sit below .500 on the season — UTEP, Tulane, Baylor, Texas and Texas Tech. While that certainly doesn’t do Oklahoma any favors, the Sooners can’t control how their opponent’s seasons have played out and can only beat who’s on the schedule, which includes then-No. 2 Ohio State and No. 11 Oklahoma State by a combined 25 points.

To that end, if the double-digit ranked wins prove to be what gets Oklahoma into the top-four, the Sooners will be presented with yet another opportunity to bolster that resume in Week 11.

On Saturday, Oklahoma will play host to No. 8 TCU in a battle of 8-1 programs eyeing the playoff and a Big 12 Championship. Whether or not Oklahoma will crack the top-four in the latest playoff rankings remains to be seen in the coming hours, but if the Sooners are left on the outside looking in, they can change that on Saturday.
