It’s no secret that radio personality and sportswriter Clay Travis likes to stir the pot sometimes.
Monday morning, he certainly got people talking when he reported that former Tennessee Volunteers tight end Jason Witten would be interested in the open head coaching position.
It seems Witten quickly wanted to put an end to that claim.

While he’s certainly an interesting name to bring up, it’s odd to think that Witten would drop everything in Dallas when he’s still having success at the pro level. He left his mark on Knoxville, but it doesn’t seem in the least bit like he’s ready to go back quite yet.
He was a third round draft pick of the Cowboys in the 2003 NFL Draft and accumulated 797 yards with 7 touchdowns on 68 catches while wearing the orange and white. Since then, he has become one of the best tight ends to ever play the game given his numbers and longevity.
If he is ever truly interested, there is likely a spot somewhere for him on the Volunteers staff if he wants it.
