3-star DE pledge Patrick Joyner makes another trip to Hurricanes

The rivalry between Florida State and Miami is continuing on the recruiting trail in the recruitment of 3-star Homestead [Fla.] South Dade defensive end Patrick Joyner.

The 6-foot-2.5, 209-pound South Florida pass-rusher has been committed to the Seminoles since April.

However, the Hurricanes offered him in May and coach Mark Richt and his staff have made the effort to flip Joyner a priority ever since.

Things seemed to be trending in a positive direction between Joyner and the Seminoles when he took his official visit to Tallahassee two weeks ago for the Louisville game.

Yet, last weekend, Joyner was one of several recruits on hand to watch the Hurricanes overpower Virginia Tech in a prime-time showdown, as noted by Andrew Ivins of InsideTheU.

The trip marks the fourth time Joyner has visited Miami since September.

While Joyner has done and said all the right things with regards to his commitment to the Seminoles, it appears as if the Hurricanes also still have his attention.

Proximity is certainly helpful in Miami’s ability to get him on campus, but the momentum within the currently undefeated Hurricanes program also doesn’t hurt their efforts.

Regardless, it seems like the Seminoles will have to continue to aggressively recruit Joyner in hopes of keeping him locked in with his commitment until National Signing Day.
