Antoine Green picks up Gators offer
While uncertainty remains about Florida State’s coaching staff, there’s a new regime that is getting cranked up at the University of Florida.
The Gators filled their opening by hiring former Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen on Sunday, and he’s already hit the ground running trying to secure the best class he can upon his arrival in Gainesville.
One new player he identified as a target is 3-star Southwest Brevard County (Fla.) Rockledge receiver and current Florida State commit Antoine Green.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound in-state playmaker committed to the Seminoles in July and rates as the nation’s No. 90 receiver and the No. 522 player overall in the 2018 cycle.
Green had amassed more than 30 offers before committing to the Seminoles, with schools such as Miami, Tennessee and Ohio State among the programs that were in the mix before his commitment.
He’s been solidly committed to Florida State since the summer, but it’s unclear if the new offer by the Gators will lead to anything further between the two parties.
Receiver is one of the main priorities for Florida State in this cycle and Green is one of just two commitments the Seminoles currently have at the position.
Because of that, keeping him in the fold has to be a priority for the Seminoles down the stretch.
Oregon pushing for 2018 FSU pledge
Florida State is also going to have a battle to keep Green’s prep teammate at Rockledge — 4-star all-purpose back Jashaun Corbin.
The 6-foot, 191-pound running back committed to the Seminoles in May after being committed to Tennessee earlier in the process.
Corbin rates as the nation’s No. 8 all-purpose back and the No. 331 player overall in the 2018 cycle.
As detailed by Scout.com’s Corey Bender, Oregon hosted Corbin on an official visit and went in-home with him earlier this week.
The Ducks appear to have made a strong impression on him.

Additionally, Bender reported that Corbin will take an official visit to Clemson in December and is still working on setting up visits to Florida State and USC in January.
Corbin is one of two running backs the Seminoles have committed in the current class.
His versatility and ability to shine as a receiver out of the backfield are something that would be tough to replace if he were to decide to go elsewhere.
Still, for now, it appears as if he’s doing his due diligence with the process given the uncertainty surrounding the current Florida State staff.
Once clarity is gained on that front, the Seminoles can begin to work on solidifying things with their current commitments.
CB pledge evaluating visits
Like a number of Florida State commitments in the 2018 cycle, 4-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas corner Asante Samuel Jr. is still committed to the Seminoles but is evaluating his options.
He took an official visit to South Carolina in October and an unofficial visit to nearby Miami earlier this month.
According to Andrew Ivins of InsideTheU, the Gamecocks are beginning to push hard for Samuel as they made an in-home visit on Thursday.

As Ivins also detailed, Samuel is planning to take an official visit to Florida State, and potential trips to LSU and Oklahoma in January are also possible.
The 5-9½, 166-pound defensive back rates as the nation’s No. 12 corner and the No. 98 player overall in the 2018 cycle. He committed to the Seminoles in April.
While Samuel remains committed, his recruitment could change based on what happens with coach Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles staff.
The fact that he wants to still visit Florida State officially in January is a good sign that the Seminoles will have an opportunity to make their pitch when the picture about the future of the program is cleared up.
